Part-Time Toddler Montessori Guide

Mountaintop Montessori is growing!  We are opening a third Toddler environment.  This would be a part-time morning only classroom with 10 to 15 students. If you are an Infant-Toddler Montessori credentialed teacher we would love to talk to you!  Our hope is to have this new room ready to start in January of 2019, however there is some flexibility as to the start date.

Mountaintop, a toddler-through 8th grade independent school, is the only dually accredited school by the Virginia Association of Independent Schools (VAIS) and the American Montessori Society (AMS) in the greater Charlottesville, VA area. Our school has a track-record of 36 years of providing authentic Montessori education supplemented by a rich co-curricular program.

Director of Enrollment

Mountaintop Montessori, a toddler-through 8th grade independent school is looking for a Director of Enrollment.  Mountaintop is the only dually accredited school by the Virginia Association of Independent Schools (VAIS) and the American Montessori Society (AMS) in the greater Charlottesville, VA area.  Our school has a track-record of 36 years of providing authentic Montessori education supplemented by a rich co-curricular program. We are interested in growing our enrollment and are looking for a motivated team player that is results oriented and eager to join our administration team.  This position involves a probationary year after which the viability of maintaining this role will be judged based on the record of increased enrollment activity and higher retention. This is a full-time, twelve-month, exempt position, eligible for benefits. Salary range is $46,000 to $50,000 depending on qualifications.

Position Description

The Director of Enrollment plans, coordinates, and implements the school’s recruitment, enrollment, and retention of students and is responsible for guiding families through the admissions’ process.  The goal of this position is to facilitate a significant and sustainable increase in mission appropriate new enrollment, and retention of existing students. The person in this position will work closely with the Head of School in creating and executing marketing, admissions, and retention programs at the school.  This is a senior leadership position that necessitates a high level of energy and commitment towards the mission of Mountaintop Montessori. This position involves a probationary year after which the viability of maintaining this role will be judged based on the record of increased enrollment activity and higher retention.

Desired qualifications

  • College degree in marketing, student life, or related field
  • Minimum of 3 years experience working in admissions in an educational setting or managing marketing for an organization
  • Clear and persuasive written communication skills
  • Proficient in using digital media in advertising and public relations
  • Ability to think and plan strategically and creatively
  • Excellent social skills
  • Superior organizational skills
  • Ideal candidate can show evidence of effectiveness in moving prospective applicants through the admissions funnel in an educational setting

Responsibilities include but are not limited to

  • Leads School Enrollment-Retention initiatives
  • Communicates the school’s mission and Montessori philosophy to prospective families
  • Promotes the school in the greater Charlottesville community
  • Responsible for the recruitment, screening, admission, enrollment and retention of the school’s students
  • Understands and is able to communicate the financial aid application process and deadlines to current and prospective parents
  • Leads enrollment management processes and reporting including tracking and analyzing admissions data to include enrollment reports, admission funnel statistics, retention, and performance
  • Oversees re-enrollment process to include parent communication, distribution of re-enrollment contracts and data tracking with support from the Registrar
  • Partners with program level directors and teachers to optimize student retention
  • Organizes and participates in admissions tours, and other school events relevant to student recruitment and retention
  • Organizes and attends admissions gathering and open houses, as well as visits feeder schools
  • Works with prospective families throughout the entire admissions process
  • Builds and maintains relationships with enrolled families and collaborates with Director of Development to identify and cultivate leads.
  • Assists with enrollment projections for future years
  • Seeks to increase the diversity of student applicants and enrollees
  • Works closely with financial aid committee

Marketing

  • Develops and implements a comprehensive marketing plan for the school that uses current digital and social media
  • Manages the admissions section of the school web-page including providing content to the web master
  • Develops and maintains the budget for necessary marketing projects
  • Identifies and cultivates relationships with individuals outside the school community who can promote the school
  • Informs other school staff of relevant information to help retain students
  • Works closely with Director of Advancement to identify and cultivate relationships with potential donors

This position reports to the Head of School

General

  • Proficient in using computers in both word processing, spreadsheet applications, and databases
  • Professional demeanor and communication style
  • Stay current with regulations related to independent school admissions and participate in ongoing professional development activities
  • Able to work flexible hours including some weekends and evenings during the school year.
  • Other duties might be assigned as needed by the Head of School

 

Substitute Teacher

Mountaintop Montessori is seeking reliable and hard working substitute teachers to support our students in toddler (18-months) through grade 8. We are looking for caring and energetic people who can help maintain a safe learning environment and provide support to students. The ideal candidate must have a loving commitment to working with children. This is a fun and flexible job where you get to build lasting relationships and interact with a variety of personalities.
Duties

Responsible for the well being of the children in the classroom as well as supporting with a variety of tasks that include, but are not limited to : classroom organization, cleaning, playground supervision and lunch supervision. When working with toddlers or Children's House (3-6 years) age levels, substitutes may also have nap supervision duties.

Supporting the lead teacher (no direct teaching)

MUST:

  • Have a joyful disposition and love of working with children
  • Have the ability to interact with students and co-workers in a warm, empathetic, confident manner.
  • Have the ability to be flexible and follow the needs of young children
  • Have the ability to squat & sit on the floor
  • Be willing to learn about the Montessori method
  • Be flexible
  • Be able to clear TB test and criminal background check upon hire

Preferred:

  • Some experience working with children

Compensation: $12/hour, part-time

 

Activity/Field Trip Bus Driver – student transportation

Mountaintop is seeking to hire experienced school bus drivers for the summer camp program as well as for on call activity transportation and occasional overnight field trips during the school year.

The Bus Driver is responsible for the safe and efficient transportation of elementary and middle school students, on school/camp day outings and overnight field trips. Must complete pre and post vehicle inspections on each trip. The school bus driver must meet all Federal, State, and Local requirements, obey all traffic laws and operate the school bus safely.

Part time position, starting pay $15/hour

In general, the schedule will include Tuesday and Thursday full-day bus trips June through August with our ecology-based summer camp program. During the school year, the occasional trips range from a full day to only a few hours. In the course of a year, there are also a few field trips out of the area that may require overnight stay.

General Qualifications:

  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Must have a valid VA commercial driver's license (CDL) - Class B with P-S endorsement.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Qualified DMV report

As a condition of employment, a criminal background check and fingerprinting are required.
