Allowing access to a Montessori education for children through middle school is an important part of our mission. We offer financial aid to families in an effort to reduce barriers to this access. Families with children enrolled in Children's House through middle school are eligible to apply. We strive to provide tuition assistance to all eligible families who demonstrate need while maintaining an affordable tuition for all of our families.
Processing of financial aid applications begins with a demonstration of need. Because the demand for financial aid by qualified applicants often exceeds available funds, the school must weigh each family’s need relative to all other families applying for financial aid. Families must file new forms to demonstrate their need each year. Families requesting financial aid must submit an Intent to Apply for Financial Aid Form to the Business Office by February 12 for the following school year.
A Financial Aid Application and your family’s prior year tax return must be completed and submitted online to F.A.S.T. (Financial Aid for School Tuition by Independent School Management) by February 28. The F.A.S.T. site offers a worksheet you can download prior to completing the online application; you can log in to the site as many times as you need to before the deadline to complete the process. All information will be kept strictly confidential. With any questions, email Becky Harris, Business Director.
Once a family has completed the online application (including submitting a copy of the tax return to F.A.S.T.), assessment of the family’s financial information can be completed. Our financial aid award process then considers additional factors such as the length of time a family has been at Mountaintop or enrolled in Montessori elsewhere, the levels at which their children are enrolled, the family’s level of participation in events and initiatives within the Mountaintop community, and our goal of enrolling a diverse range of families at the school. Financial aid determination letters will be mailed no later than April 30.
If parents are separated or divorced, it is important that both parties complete an application. Generally, it is expected that both parents will contribute to their child’s educational expenses. Please contact the Director of Business Operations to discuss the circumstances pertaining to your family’s situation. Financial need is not considered in determining a student’s eligibility for admission. Mountaintop admits students of any race, color, national and ethnic origin to all the rights, privileges, programs, and activities generally accorded or made available to students at the school. It does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national and ethnic origin in administration of its educational policies, admissions policies, scholarship and loan programs and athletic and other school-administered programs.
